Kuala Lumpur, Aug 29 – AirAsia Group Bhd is preparing to elevate international aviation connectivity by launching its very first codeshare partnership with Türkiye’s prominent low-cost carrier, Pegasus Airlines. This strategic alliance marks a monumental milestone for the airline group, expanding its global footprint and providing passengers with enhanced travel options across multiple intercontinental destinations.
The upcoming codeshare agreement is scheduled to take effect next month, introducing seamless travel connections through major aviation hubs. Industry insiders indicate that the initial phase of this collaboration will encompass up to five distinct routes operated by Pegasus Airlines via Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.
Passengers will soon benefit from streamlined itineraries linking Istanbul to key global destinations, including London Stansted, Moscow, Athens, Ankara, and Zurich. This comprehensive network integration leverages the D7-coded flight numbers of AirAsia X, ensuring a cohesive booking experience for travelers seeking affordable long-haul journeys.
Furthermore, sources indicate that AirAsia Group is actively looking to double the frequency of its existing Kuala Lumpur-Istanbul service via AirAsia X. This capacity expansion underscores the airline’s commitment to reinforcing bilateral tourism and economic ties between Southeast Asia and Eurasia, offering unprecedented value and connectivity for global travelers.
