GE Aerospace Expands F110 Fighter Engine Output by 50 Percent to Support F-15EX and F-16 Demand
Washington, DC, October 5 – GE Aerospace has raised F110 fighter engine output by 50 percent year over year since the second quarter of 2025 through manufacturing investment and measures to ease supply bottlenecks. The F110 fighter engine powers the F-15EX and F-16, positioning GE Aerospace to meet growing United States Air Force and allied demand for combat propulsion. Total defense engine output rose 15 percent in the first half of 2026 as production capacity expanded.
Since 2023, GE Aerospace has invested more than 600 million dollars in manufacturing at its defense facilities and committed more than 100 million dollars to external suppliers for tooling and equipment. Those manufacturing investments expand capacity, stabilize schedules, add sources for critical components, and upgrade parts supporting higher F110 fighter engine rates. Closer supplier coordination and deployed engineering and quality teams improve demand visibility and reduce delays before they affect deliveries.
Castings remain a supply bottleneck, prompting an agreement to acquire Consolidated Precision Products while external suppliers stay central. Artificial intelligence on the F110 and F404 lines identifies supply-chain risks earlier, improving material flow and readiness. The FLIGHT DECK operating model cut lead time for the F110 high-pressure compressor forward shaft by roughly 60 percent by consolidating processes and shortening travel inside the facility.
The F110 fighter engine has logged more than 11 million flight hours over 40 years, with 90 percent of parts upgraded through new materials, coatings, and inspection. Additive manufacturing supports production, including a metal 3D-printed sump cover qualified by the United States Air Force in 2021. Sustained manufacturing investment and supply measures aim to deliver reliable engines faster.

Avolon Secures Order for 250 Boeing and Airbus Aircraft
Dublin, October 10 – Dublin-based aircraft lessor Avolon has announced a major order for 250 Boeing and Airbus jets with an option for 100 more aircraft. The global leasing giant confirmed the agreement on Friday to expand its fleet portfolio with modern commercial aviation jets. This significant aircraft order highlights Avolon’s strong commitment to supporting the industry’s demand for fuel-efficient models.
The order consists of 140 Boeing 737 MAX jets and 110 from Airbus, including 75 A320neo planes and 35 A330neo widebody aircraft. Avolon, a subsidiary of China’s Bohai Leasing Co Ltd, also secured options for a further 100 unspecified Airbus jets. These selections target popular single-aisle and twin-aisle aircraft favored by airlines globally.
As the world’s third-largest aircraft lessor, Avolon now holds 749 aircraft on order after this purchase. That figure supplements the 561 planes the company currently owns and manages. The expanded order book strengthens Avolon’s competitive position in the aircraft leasing market.
Boeing and Airbus continue to benefit from substantial commitments by leading lessors like Avolon seeking next-generation aircraft. The Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo series remain key drivers of narrowbody demand, while the A330neo addresses medium-haul needs. Such large-scale aircraft orders reflect sustained investment in commercial aviation fleets worldwide.
