ANJ, October1 – Shield AI develops the X-BAT AI-piloted fighter jet for mass production in the Seattle area, adding 4000 jobs by the early 2030s. This autonomous VTOL strike fighter operates from highways, remote outposts, and cargo ships using a dedicated mobile launch trailer without traditional runways. The innovative design makes Earth the runway, enabling flexible deployments in military air operations.

The X-BAT features a 26-foot fuselage length, a 39-foot wingspan, and a service ceiling over 50000 feet. Its combat radius reaches about 1000 nautical miles, exceeding the F-35A with 2000 nautical miles total range plus a 2,000-pound class internal weapons payload. The GE Aerospace F110 engine with a thrust-vectoring nozzle powers high-performance autonomous flights.
No human pilot is required as the Shield AI Hivemind autonomy system and onboard algorithms navigate and execute strikes even amid jammed GPS and satellite communications. Ground engine tests and nozzle integration finished this summer, paving the way for first vertical flights expected in 2026. Production starts in Des Moines in mid-2027, with the first jet built in early 2028 flying that summer and Navy use by the end of 2029.
Annual output targets 150 aircraft by the early 2030s, supporting full production. The AI-piloted fighter jet advances runway-independent autonomy, transforming future combat capabilities through Washington state manufacturing hubs.
