Turkey Advances Air Defense With New Eurofighter Typhoon Fleet Production
Ankara, Aug. 4 – Manufacturing operations have officially commenced for twenty advanced Eurofighter Typhoon multirole fighter jets designated for the Turkish Air Force. Prime contractor BAE Systems confirmed that assembly lines across the United Kingdom and partner nations are actively processing the defense order. This milestone marks a major development in modern military aviation and defense procurement strategies within the region.
The comprehensive acquisition program includes vital logistical support, maintenance equipment, and extensive pilot training provisions to ensure seamless integration. Initial flight training programs for Turkish personnel are scheduled to begin shortly to build crucial operational readiness. Defense officials emphasize that establishing technical competence early is essential for maximizing the combat efficacy of the fleet.
According to the established timeline, official aircraft handovers are anticipated to begin in 2030. The scheduled deliveries will progress in structured phases through the early part of the decade, significantly bolstering Turkey’s aerial defense capabilities and tactical deterrence. Strategic analysts note that this fleet expansion will profoundly enhance interoperability across allied airspace corridors.
Ultimately, the production launch reinforces long-term industrial partnerships and shapes the future landscape of European defense manufacturing. As assembly accelerates, global defense markets will closely monitor how this major contract influences regional stability and modern air power configurations.

EVA Air Boeing 777 Transponder Emergency Triggers Unexpected Turnback to Paris

Paris, July 29 – An EVA Air long-haul international flight bound for Taipei executed an emergency turnback to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport shortly after takeoff on Monday, July 27, 2026. Flight BR88, operated by a widebody Boeing 777-300ER registered as B-16732, originally departed Paris CDG at 11:40 CEST bound for Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
Approximately thirty minutes into the transcontinental flight, as the commercial aircraft reached its cruising altitude of 29,000 feet, the flight crew encountered an unforeseen operational issue. At 12:10 CEST, the pilots broadcast the transponder code Squawk 7700, the universal aviation emergency signal, while initiating a prompt 180-degree turnback toward French territory.
Air traffic control immediately prioritized the descending twin-engine jetliner, clearing nearby upper airspace to facilitate a swift, uninterrupted descent back to the departure hub. The Boeing 777-300ER landed safely on the runway at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 13:15 CEST without further incident or reported injuries among passengers.
Following roughly two full hours on the tarmac for thorough maintenance checks, safety evaluations, and technical clearance, ground personnel approved the airliner for service. Flight BR88 departed Paris CDG successfully for the second time at 15:15 CEST, resuming its transcontinental journey across continents toward its final destination in Taipei, Taiwan.
